Colin’s No.1 @ Home Toad in the Hole

Ingredients

Sausages, Plain flour, Eggs, Milk, Salt and pepper,

Equipment

Oven dish, Bowl, Whisk, Fine sieve, Mug, Jug,

Method

Pre heat the oven to 200/ gas mark 6.
Drizzle a little oil in the bottom of the dish then add the sausages and roast for five mins.
To make the batter you’ll need equal measurements of eggs, milk and heaped flour. Crack eggs into the mug, then place in bowl and whisk, add milk and heaped flour into the beaten eggs and add salt and pepper. If using an electric whisk start at a low speed and build up the speed gradually until it thickens to a similar consistency of double cream, if not add milk until it does. Sieve the batter into the jug and then set aside until the sausages have been oven baked for five minutes. Pour the batter over the sausages and place back in the oven as fast as possible and bake for a further 25-30 minutes.
Serve with sides of your choice, such as mash/chips, vegetables/beans and gravy.
